The technology-led solution, Hero Wellbeing, promises to revolutionise the way companies and individuals view health and wellbeing.
Founded by Joe Gaunt, who was the previous MD of WeWork, the US based company that provides shared workspaces across the world and Reward Gateway, an employee engagement technology platform, which boasts some of the world’s leading companies on its roster. Prior to this Gaunt held director and senior roles within Virgin Active and Fitness First.
A psychology graduate and qualified personal trainer, Gaunt has had a lifelong interest in health, wellbeing and helping people. He said: “We believe everyone should have access to life enhancing health and wellbeing opportunities. It’s for this reason that I created Hero. We’ve all got that friend or family member who we would love to see healthier – whether it be physically or mentally and the national statistics echo this. Poor health and well-being is costing the UK economy up to £57 billion a year in lost productivity. Productivity losses at work occur through a combination of absenteeism, employees not being at work, and presenteeism, employees being at work but working at a sub-optimal level. This has been the driving force behind developing what we intend to be the most comprehensive product and service on the market. We have carefully selected the best in class providers of health and wellbeing, technology and services and are working with them to make being healthy an easy and enjoyable part of their everyday lifestyle. Our technology and platform will translate the results in a way, which deliver added value, benefit and an ROI to our customers and clients.”
Gaunt has significant ambitions for rapid growth within the workplace wellbeing and corporate wellness market, which will be led by Chief Operating Officer Stephen Waterman another big hitter from the world of health and fitness – previously holding positions within 1Life (Operations and Commercial Director), Virgin Active (Commercial Director) and more recently as a Managing Director within ISS Facility Services UK, a global leader in facilities management.
Gaunt continues: “We recognise there is a huge opportunity within the corporate wellbeing market and we need a strong team to take this concept forward. Hero has been formed to have a positive impact on individuals, companies and communities, using technology as the enabler to promote and support all types of healthy behaviour.”
Stephen Waterman, Chief Operating Officer, says: “We believe in helping individuals and companies focus on being the best version of themselves. Every human, team and organisation are unique, and Hero will work with organisations to find the best fit for the business. The Hero concept is one which I am extremely passionate about and can see the significant impact and benefit our solution can have on the workforce. I am thrilled to be joining Joe to drive this movement and see significant shift changes in attitude and behaviour.”
Gaunt adds: “We have some very exciting plans for where we are taking Hero over the next few years. It’s going to be quite a journey and we looking forward to taking many businesses, organisations and individuals with us.”
